James Waugh, Loyalist Scotch farmer of Prince Edward Island, Canada
19 July 2006 - 4:47:39pm Welcome to my James Waugh website. This site has been 8 years in the making, and it is my pleasure to share my research with you. This website is a compilation of the descendants of James Waugh, a farmer from Prince Edward Island, Canada who remained loyal to the British during the American Revolution and was forced to flee New York in search of a new life in British North America. He settled eventually on the Island of Saint John, later named Prince Edward Island, to build a life for himself and his family as a farmer. He was a Scotch Presbyterian and was able to secure some 300 acres of good quality land at Wilmot Valley, which is near what is now Summerside, P.E.I. James' family background as a lowland Scot must have helped prepare him to become an industrious and prosperous farmer. His descendants are spread all throughout North America today, but many of them still reside in the general area of where he drew his refugee lot in 1784. Please feel free to contact me should you wish to contribute to this ongoing project in either content, additions, changes or photographs of people you would like to have remembered on this site! Enjoy! At this moment there are no selected Favorites. The admin can add Favorites to display at startup. Descendants of James Waugh, Loyalist
